What exactly is Soledad O's race? Her name says Hispanic (not the O'brien part)but it doesn't mean anything really since I know non-Hispanic named "Juan, Antonio" among many other name. So does anybody knows? if she is not really "Black" American, shouldn't we have a sista to present the documentary to the public?

Soledad O'Brien is Half Afro-Cuban and Half Australian. Her mother is Afro-Cuban and her father was born in Australia but is of Irish decent so that's why her last name is O'Brien.

But I'm kinda 50/50 with your opinion on having a fully black host narrating this show. Maybe she feels more closer to her black side. Who are we to judge?

I believe that when people (black, white, hispanic whatever) get tired of repeating the same generational cycles of poverty, lack of education, welfare, teen preganancies etc they make a decision to do something about it to change their lives which eventually will trickle down to future generations to change their lives for the better as well. President Obama just became our first African American president so there should be no more excuses as to why we as a race should be making excuses as to why we are in the situations that we often find ourselves in. I believe in empowering oneself and if you make up your mind to accomplish something then take a step to get the ball rolling. The bible says faith without works (action) is dead, so while having faith to accomplish a dream is great, faith alone is not enough, put some action with that faith and make your dream move from a concept in your head to a tangible reality to that you can see, feel and live out. I hope that everyone who is living a life hopelessness and poverty finds the strength to get sick and tired of being sick and tired and finally do something to change their current situation.
