At least some Black women know what time it is. Too many of these Yaki weave wearing, big designer sunglasses rockin, designer handbags having sistas are bamboozled and whitewashed.

P.S: Many of my fellow brothas ain't no better!!! Always sniffing behind the White and Latin women like a pesky lapdog.

For the clown questioning dreads: Locking ones hair is a technique used to style and/or manage natural hair, similar to braiding. No chemicals or tools are reqired for dreads to form. And if you did your research, you'd know that hair can naturally lock. If a black person does absolutely nothing to their hair over a lengthy period of time said individual's hair will lock on its own. Most people prefer to lock it themselves not only for hygenic purposes but because naturally formed dreads tend to reflect Sideshow Bob. Take an Afro-American course at your local community college or buy a book on our history at Borders. Knowledge is power, clown.
As far as the beautiful black woman's comments in the video, I concur. I saddens me to see our women so "whitewashed" (I like that term). The standard must change with us first.

She is so right. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everybody has a different standard of beauty. The white man's opinion on beauty is bull@#$%! but you have some black women who think it matters. Do some research and learn how to take care of your own hair. It will save you alot of money spent on fake @#$%!. I don't see why @#$%!s got something to say about fake @#$%! because they still be trying to holla at bw with fake @#$%!. WTF?

I love that black women are trying to make themselves pretty by perming or buying that good hair. Men don't want a nasty stinky head woman with short hair or dreads. Dreads are the rebel to nice looking maintained hair. Very lazy appearance. Keep investing in your beauty black women.

If someone wants to wear a weave or wear their natural hair- whose business is it but their own? Everyone has their own preferences. And you mean to tell me out of all the issues plaguing the black community-to weave or not to weave is at the top of the list? Negroes, please.

@9:56 - Of course hair isn't the only issue blacks should concern themselves with yet identity crisis is a major problem. Trying to find our culture through other races is ass-backward. We're not the only peoples who suffer from this complex. Asians our using expensive surgery to widen their eyes and Brazilians are going blind "coloring" their irises blue and green. Most every brown eyed, blacked haired race has a large number of blue contact, blond dyed posers.

I am comfortable with my hair in it's natural curly state but I also don't mind changing it up sometimes. I don't do it for public opinion or male approval. I do what my mind and mood dictates whether it be purple rinsed, blown straight, washed and air-dried curly, or weaved up. As someone in the fashion and beauty industry, I've seen a lot of natural women try other things for variety without sacrificing their integrity. Not saying there aren't some people easily influenced by the media, but most people make style choices according to their personal preferences. I don't have the kind of hair that will lock without damaging it but I can appreciate her choice of style. Being judgemental of other people's choices because they differ from your own can be taken as a sign of weakness and in some cases, personal insecurity.

umm how are you changing it up when you live, eat, and breathe perms and weaves? that is the same old bullshyt you aren't changing anything up.

Sa-roc is a beautiful sista, I would definitely wife something like her up with the quickness. She is proud of being black, that is something I look for in a girlfriend/wife.

White washed eurocentric chasing black women need not apply. Having children with a white washed sista is a huge no no in my book. If I had a daughter with a negative sista like this she would be teaching my daughter self hatred at a young age, trying to perm her hair at age 3 and buying her lacefronts and all that other bullshyt.

What black women need to stop doing is generalizing and putting everyone in the same box. No, BW shouldn't be ashamed of their natural hair but I don't think every who has a weave or wears a wig is ashamed. Some just like variety and other like to give their hair a break. With all that said, not every BW has to look like you Sa-Roc or share you views. It is this diversity that makes us all beautiful Black women.

I guarantee if I saw all of the black women on this thread in person you would all be overweight with a cheap nasty lacefront on.

And how does wearing dreads make Sa-roc insecure? if anything it shows her pride and strength. She is not willing to fall under the grasp of the eurocentric beauty standard.

Shut your weave wearing perm using lame azz up. No one wAnts to hear your excuses.

There is never an excuse for black women to spend millions on hair care products when they have perfectly fine hair on their heads.

Unless you are a recovering chemo patient, or suffering from alopecia there is no reason why you should be wearing a damn wig/weave.

I'm personally sick and tired of the sheep crowd aka black women that follow the eurocentric standard of beauty attacking REAL SOULFUL BLACK WOMEN. If this REAL SISTA wants to voice her opinion let her do so. She speaks nothing but truth and you have the audacity to call her close minded? stfu.

Good Lord!!!
I am so sick of all of this good hair/bad hair crap and the generalizations about weaves -vs- relaxed -vs- natural. As if not having natural hair/locks somehow means your conforming to to the white mans standard of beauty. Bull****!
...some people relax their hair for no other reason than it's easier to manage when relaxed. There's no big hidden meaning/no agenda...it's just easier to manage!
Some people wear weaves/wigs because it gives your hair a chance to rest so your not always doing something to it or with it.
And for all of those o'natural people who think their style of choice is THE only way to go. Please stop the nonsense! It may be right for you but that doesn't mean it's right for everyone.

Read what I said again then let it marinate. You don't get to decide what Black women should look like just b/c your Black.I feel with Black women this arguement (like color issues) is always so dense and one sided...nappy=good straight=bad. Is it ever possible for a black women to wear a straight weave simply because it's flattering and she like the aesthetic?......save the fact that she wasn't born with it.

ok, i have a perm, but she's absolutely right about the fact that there is a tinge of inferiority in the straight hair obsession we as Black women have. In our defense, many of us have had perms since we were 12, so we don't even KNOW how to do our natural hair.

She takes the JEsus imagery a bit far, but she's right that we need to establish some new standards for desirability. Because the lace fronts have taken over popular culture, and that's not the ONLY image we should projecting of Black beauty

I would love to just be myself but black people are full of it. My sister is a natural and she doesn't have a texture like this chick in the video, its closer to a black man's nappy fro. All the black people in my school ostracized her, made fun of her, assumed she was poor and called her ugly and Miss Pubes. Its so annoying, that if u don't have the "nice" flowy curls or hair that doesn't grow into a hard thick afro your considered ugly. I'm tired of all these dumb a-holes telling me to wear natural hair because if they had 4b-5 hair/ my sister's hair they'd be hiding in wigs. I'll conform now, but when they bring the 70's back I'm burning all my stupid extensions.

The fact that women of other races are now wearing weaves does not change the fact that black people are disproportionately 80% consumers of hair products such as perms relaxers wigs etc. Not to mention we do not control or benefit from a hair industry we completely support. Most black women and men have been taught to subliminally hate themselves from a early age into adulthood. Using excuses like your hair is easier to manage in its unnatural state is laziness. Accept that you have been programed and brainwashed into a European standard of what beauty is. If you need an example of natural hair & black pride just watch a re-run of soul train! It is blatantly clear that we as a people had a different mind state that included embracing ourselves and not imitating our oppressors.
Ultimately yes it is your choice but understand that you are perpetuating a white agenda. Generations to come, children and others look up to you... set an example.
Don't get blacked out through whitewash!!!
